LACTATION COOKIES, MADE FOR YOUR PALATE

One flexible recipe with room to choose the flavor

Your palate does not disappear because your routine changed.

Postpartum days are rarely predictable.

Meals get interrupted.

Coffee gets reheated.

The most useful foods are often the ones that can wait patiently within reach.

That is the thinking behind PRIVÉ Lactation Cookies.

  • The beginning of the batch. Lactation cookie dough portioned by hand before baking.
  • Fresh from the oven and cooling before the final box is packed.
  • A finished custom batch, boxed and ready.

Each batch begins with a thoughtful base of rolled oats, flax, and brewer’s yeast. From there, the flavor is personal. It can be rich with dark chocolate, finished with pistachio and sesame, warmed with cinnamon, or shaped around something entirely your own.

The goal is not to turn a cookie into a promise. It is to make something satisfying, portable, and genuinely worth looking forward to.

Below is an approachable at home base recipe with several flavor paths. Choose one, adjust it to your palate, or use it as the beginning of your own combination.

THE BASE RECIPE

Prep time

20 minutes

Chill time

30 minutes

Bake time

12 to 14 minutes

Yield

Approximately 18 cookies

BASE INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed

  • 1/4 cup warm water

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

  • 2 cups all purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup brewer’s yeast

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt

  • 1 1/2 cups old fashioned rolled oats

YOUR FLAVOR

Choose one of the following combinations or create your own.

DARK CHOCOLATE SEA SALT

1 cup dark chocolate chunks

Flaky sea salt for finishing

MATCHA PISTACHIO SESAME

1 tablespoon culinary matcha

3/4 cup roasted unsalted pistachios, roughly chopped

2 tablespoons white sesame seeds

Additional sesame seeds for finishing

CINNAMON ALMOND

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

3/4 cup roasted almonds, roughly chopped

A light dusting of cinnamon sugar for finishing

CRANBERRY WHITE CHOCOLATE

1/2 cup dried cranberries

3/4 cup white chocolate pieces

METHOD

  1. Combine the ground flaxseed and warm water in a small bowl. Let it rest for 10 minutes until slightly thickened.

  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and lighter in texture.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time. Mix in the vanilla and prepared flax mixture.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, brewer’s yeast, baking soda, and sea salt. Add any powdered ingredients included in your chosen flavor, such as matcha or cinnamon.

  5. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Mix only until the flour is incorporated.

  6. Fold in the rolled oats and the remaining ingredients from your chosen flavor.

  7. Cover the dough and chill for 30 minutes. This helps the cookies hold their shape and gives the oats time to absorb moisture.

  8. Heat the oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

  9. Portion the dough into generous rounds using approximately 3 tablespoons for each cookie. Place them on the prepared baking sheets and add any finishing ingredients.

  10. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, until the edges are set and the centers remain soft.

  11. Allow the cookies to rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.

A THOUGHTFUL NOTE ABOUT LACTATION COOKIES

Brewer’s yeast, oats, and flax often appear in recipes created for breastfeeding parents. These cookies can offer a convenient and satisfying source of nourishment, but they are not a treatment for low milk supply and results vary from person to person.

Anyone concerned about milk production should speak with a physician or qualified lactation professional who can assess feeding, health history, and the complete clinical picture.

Brewer’s yeast is not the same ingredient as active dry yeast. They should not be substituted.

Matcha naturally contains caffeine. If you choose the matcha flavor, consider it as part of your total daily caffeine intake.

ALLERGEN AND STORAGE NOTES

The base recipe contains wheat, dairy, and egg. Flavor selections may add nuts, sesame, or soy.

Store the baked cookies in an airtight container for up to four days. Portioned dough can be frozen for up to two months and baked directly from frozen with a few additional minutes in the oven.
